Questions You Might Be Asking
Starting therapy often comes with a lot of questions. You might not even know what to ask—just that something feels heavy, overwhelming, or stuck. Here are some of the most common questions women bring with them when they reach out for support.
Why do I always feel like I’m not enough, even when I’m successful?
Many women carry a deep sense of inadequacy, even when they’re doing well on the outside. Often this comes from early experiences where love or validation felt conditional. Therapy using the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) helps you understand where this belief began and gently shift the patterns that formed in childhood.
How do I stop overthinking and constant anxiety?
Overthinking is often a way of trying to prevent mistakes or prepare for danger. It once made sense as a survival strategy. In trauma-informed therapy, we work on calming your nervous system, quieting self-criticism, and building self-trust—so your mind doesn’t have to stay on overdrive.
Why do I people-please, even when I don’t want to?
Saying yes when you mean no can come from learning, early on, that your needs didn’t matter as much as keeping the peace. In therapy, you’ll practice setting boundaries and asking for what you need—without guilt or fear of losing connection.
Why do I pull away when I actually want closeness?
When intimacy once felt unpredictable or unsafe, it can feel scary to lean into it now. Therapy gives you tools to notice those protective reflexes and slowly build the capacity for closeness while still feeling safe and like yourself.
Can childhood or relational trauma cause anxiety and self-doubt?
Yes. Trauma isn’t only about one major event—it’s also about the ongoing impact of not feeling consistently seen, safe, or supported. Developmental and relational trauma often show up as anxiety, self-doubt, or difficulty in relationships.
Why do I feel so anxious, even when my life seems fine?
Anxiety isn’t always about what’s happening right now—it’s often about old patterns of bracing for what might happen. Therapy can help you understand where this comes from and learn to feel more grounded in the present.
Why do I feel responsible for everyone else’s needs?
If you had to take care of others early in life, it can feel automatic to keep doing that now. Together we work on untangling that responsibility, so you can show up for others without abandoning yourself.
Why can’t I just let go of the past?
Old hurts and disappointments can linger in the body and mind, shaping how you see yourself and your relationships. Therapy offers a safe place to process that grief and anger, so you can move forward without being weighed down.
How do I know if therapy can really help me?
If you’re tired of just coping and want to feel more alive, connected, and free—therapy can help. My approach works at the root, not just the surface, so change feels lasting, not temporary.
What is therapy with you like?
Therapy with me is relational, warm, and attuned. I won’t pressure you, shame you, or tell you who you “should” be. Instead, we’ll explore together—making space for all parts of you, loosening what no longer serves, and creating room for something more authentic to emerge.
Do you offer online trauma therapy in Florida?
Yes. I offer secure online trauma therapy for clients in Florida, New Jersey, New York, and Texas, as well as in-person therapy in St. Petersburg, Florida.
What are your therapy fees?
My standard session fee is $200 per 50–55 minute session. Payment is due at the time of service. Therapy is an investment in long-term healing, and we can discuss whether this feels sustainable for you during our consultation.
Do you accept insurance?
I am a private-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. This allows our work to remain focused on your goals rather than diagnostic requirements or session limits.
If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
Why don’t you take insurance?
Working outside of insurance allows us greater privacy, flexibility, and depth. Insurance companies often require a mental health diagnosis and may limit the length or focus of therapy. Private pay therapy allows us to work at the pace and depth that feels right for you.
How often will we meet?
Most clients begin with weekly sessions to build momentum and trust. As therapy progresses, we can adjust the frequency based on your needs and goals.
What if you’re not the right therapist for me?
Finding the right fit is important. If we discover I’m not the best match, I’ll gladly connect you with trusted colleagues and resources so you feel supported in finding what you need.
